My first snowflake

Kosmo & Klax are lying in their bed.  „Good night“, Klax says, closes his eyes and falls asleep instantly. Kosmo tosses and turns restlessly. „Klax“, he whispers after a while, „are you already asleep?“ „Mhm“, Kosmo murmurs and blinks tiredly with one eye. „But I can’t sleep“, Kosmo says silently. „Why not?“, Klax asks and yawns.

„I am so terribly excited. I have the feeling something really special will happen tonight.“ Klax looks at him curiously: „What?“ „Don’t really know either.“ Kosmo gets up and looks up to the sky. „I got it“, he shouts and beams, „it smells like snow.“ Klax takes a deep breath. „I can’t smell anything.“
 

For a while they are sitting next to each other and sniffle intensely. Then Kosmo shouts exuberantly: „Klax, are we going to stay up tonight and wait for the very first snowflake?“ „Oh yes“, Klax squeaks and gets all excited himself. They grab their blankets and place themselves wrapped in them on a swing next to the sandpit.

Eagerly, they look up to the sky and wait for something to happen. But only the wind, which breezes over the playground is audible. Klax is getting impatient. He is cold and he is longing for his warm bed. Sudeenly it gets very silent, even the wind seems to hold ist breath for a moment. „The waiting is over“, Kosmo whispers and stretches out his hand. And sure enough: Silently a little snowflake is sailing down from the sky right into his hand. Blissfully, he looks to Klax: „I have caught it, the very first snowflake.“ Klax discovers a snowflake on his round belly. „Look“, he calls enthusiastically. More and more snowflakes trickle down from the sky. „Now winter is coming“, Kosmo says reverently and takes Klax’ hand. „Tomorrow morning everything will be white.“ Happily, they take their blankets and climb back into their warm bed. „All white ...“ Klax whispers and falls asleep.
